We need to borrow Waldron Area High School yearbooks or composite class pictures (for the earlier years) for scanning. Or, as an alternative, we seek your help in scanning the "missing" years if you have possession of those yearbooks or pictures.

Annual Alumni Reunion Planned

The Waldron Alumni Association is planning its annual High School Alumni Reunion for Saturday, June 26, 2010.

 

There will be a social hour at 5:30 p.m. and dinner will be at 6:30 p.m.

 

Tickets are $10.50 in advance or $12.50 after June 5. Even if you don't intend to attend, $2 dues are due. The dues are used for mailing and other expenses.

 

Classes to be honored this year are 1934, '35, '59, '60, '84, and '85.

 

If you will attend, send your name (and maiden name), address, number who will attend, your check payable to "Waldron Alumni Association" and year of graduation to:

Schoolhouse Project Delayed

The Waldron area one-room schoolhouse project is on an indefinte hold because of illness.

 
One-room Schoolhouse Project

Roy Myers, Class of 1970, is leading a project to photograph all existing one-room schoolhouses in the Waldron Area School District. We hope to publish them on this site in the spring or early summer of 2009.

 

If you have any historical pictures of any of the following schoolhouses, will you please provide us with a digital copy of them? Some buildings no longer exist while some others have been converted into residences.

 

Names of the known schoolhouses: Yellow, Pink, White, Banner, Virginia, Wheeler, Independent, Macedonia, Snow, Green, Bean Patch, Mitchell, Black and Brown.

The addition of the 20 graduates in this class brings to 2,255 the names in the list of Waldron Area High School graduates. (Not all are represented by pictures.) They include 1943's Robert Abbaduska through 1998's Eddie Zuver.

 
Waldron Households Fifty Years Ago

Who lived in your house 50 years ago? Who lived in Waldron 50 years ago?

 

Lists of most of the households in Waldron from 1957 to 1960 can be seen here.

 

The lists are taken from the subscription payment booklets of the Hillsdale Daily News paper route delivery boys at that time. Waldron had a population of 454 in the 1960 census.
